Jennifer Siobhane Darzentes

 

Summary

Jenny has a BA from the University of London, U.K. and a PhD from City University, U.K.

Since 2004, she works in the Department of Product and Systems Design Engineering of the University of the Aegean, Greece as a researcher and lecturer. Since 1989, she has worked on European funded research projects, in the areas of HCI, Information Management and Design for All.

 

Teaching

She teaches undergraduate courses in Design for All; Interaction Design (with Dr. Vassilis Papakostopoulos 2007-14, with Dr. Modestos Stavrakis from 2015); Information Design and Communication Theory. She is teaching as Organisational Theory and Organisational Behaviour (with Dr Vassilis Papakostopoulos as a substitute lecturer for academic years 2013-15).

She teaches postgraduate courses in Information Design - Case Taking (in cooperation with Dr. Themis Oikonomidis) and Design for All and Ergonomics (with Dr. Vassilis Papakostopoulos). From the academic year 2014-15, in the revised curriculum programme of the department, she will be teaching an additional new course, Service Design (with Professor John Darzentas).

 

(Current) Research Interests

 

Design for All and e-Accessibility, Human Computer Interaction (HCI) studies and Interaction Design, in particular, Service Design and Information (content) design. These activities are applied in online learning, decision support systems and computer mediated communication

Discourse based studies including (Literary) text analysis and theories of communication and literacies for usable and accessible content, in particular medical information design

Teaching and curriculum design (Design for All, Information Design). Conscious of the responsibility of teaching new generations of Designers, the design of these courses needs to reflect social values, as well as technical competence.
