
Sonja Hermann
Dr Sonja Hermann is a Principal Investigator in the Trinity College Dublin, Centre of Bioengineering and an Adjunct Assistant Professor since 2010. Sonja’s research interests are in human sensory perception and the forces acting on human tissue. She is developing a new tissue compression sensor for pressure ulcer prevention. Sonja has over 15 years experience in User Centred Design, and has worked in Human Factors R&D at BMW Munich. As a consultant Sonja has worked with clients, in the US, Germany, Italy and Ireland. For universities, she has developed a human factors module, medical device design module, Human Computer interaction module and has organized the first Trinity engineering universal design challenge in 2012. She organised and co-operated a design thinking summer school for industry in 2013 and has given numerous workshops and guest lectures on user centred design.
